Employee Spotlight: Julianne DeMello, Accounting & HR

This month, I had the chance to sit down with Julianne DeMello. Julianne’s current position at mk is Accounting & Human Resources Assistant. Julianne DeMello began her tenure at mk North America in June 2010 as a Sales Assistant. With her impeccable attention to detail, within six months Julianne moved into the Order Entry department at mk.
While working in Order Entry, Julianne was immersed into the internal processes of the company and was able to work, alongside her Manger and fellow coworkers in that department, to implement lasting positive changes for the company-at-large.
Accounting & Human Resources Assistant at mk North America
Prior to working at mk, Julianne had spent 13 years in the banking industry. And while not directly related to accounting, her ability to navigate financial systems and sensitive matters did not go unnoticed by mk’s Accounting and Human Resources Manager, Wanda Veinotte. After being approached twice about the possibility of transferring to yet another department within mk, Julianne formally accepted the position as Accounting and Human Resource Assistant in January 2013. She has faithfully served in this position since then.
Aside from her day-to-day tasks, Julianne has taken on a number of special projects within the company – everything from foreign taxes to upgrading phone systems. Twice a year she acts as the corporate party planner and ensures a good time is had by all at the Summer Picnic and Holiday Party. Aptly nicknamed Eagle-Eyes, Julianne is constantly being tasked to review and proof-read various documents as well.
Customer Relationships & Beyond
According to Wanda Veinotte, Julianne’s supervisor, “Julianne has worked in several departments within our organization and has excelled in each one. She has great working relationships with our customers, our vendors and her coworkers. She is one of our superstars and we are fortunate to have her with us.”
When asked about the most meaningful part of her job Julianne replied, “Anything that makes a positive impact on the company - improves a procedure, saves money, etc. I also really enjoy recognizing employee birthdays and anniversaries on behalf of the company.”
Julianne continues to be a superstar outside the company as well, having served as Parent-Teacher-Association Treasurer at her daughter’s school and coaching town-league baseball. Julianne makes her home with her husband, Kevin, and daughter, Grace. She is an avid University of Connecticut sports fan and attends many of the various games with her family. She also enjoys singing and arts and crafts.
