Meet Julianne
Julianne’s current role at mk is Accounting & HR Supervisor; having been promoted to this position a little over a year ago. Prior to this role Julianne has also worked at mk as an Accounting & HR Assistant, as well as a Sales Assistant and an Order Entry Associate. Julianne has been with mk since June 2010.
In Julianne’s current role she executes tasks mainly surrounding accounts receivable. She ensures correct invoicing, on-time payments, as well as maintaining good customer relationships. Other areas of her job involve higher level business requirements. For example, Julianne manages all mk’s business dealings with Canada Revenue Agency and Revenue Quebec. On the HR side of her position Julianne ensures that all employees are celebrated on their birthdays and work anniversaries. She is also instrumental in planning and executing mk employee social-functions. If there is a celebration, Julianne is the person that makes it happen.
I asked Julianne about what motivates her at work, to which she replied: I love the fact that we’re a small company. I’m not good at just being a number. I like that I can suggest changes, bring problems to the forefront, and hopefully find ways to solve them. And when I learn something that might benefit someone else in the company, I will share it, and that excites me. My days are always different. They can be challenging sometimes, but that’s how you improve.
When asked if she had any advice for new employees, she said: We’re a small company who’s big in the marketplace. We have the reputation as “big” but function as a small company. … For new employees coming in, I would just advise that they have to learn more than they would working at a larger company where there might be one person for each task. And that’s a great thing.
