Case Study: Bolts and Adjustable Width Conveyor

Recently, a customer came to mk North America with a material handling challenge involving various-sized bolts with four different types of head options. The bolts ranged in size from 6.25-inch to 36.25-inch. The bolts were threaded for either ⅝ or ¾ inch. The common material handling requirement between all of the bolts, 49 types in total, was to control the bolt end opposite of the head.

High Temperature Conveyors from mk North America

High temperature conveyor with metal mesh belting from mk North America

The majority of industrial conveyor applications occur in environments that are more or less room temperature. Shipping, crating, inspection, and others are all applications for which no special consideration of temperature is required.

For many others, however, extreme low temperatures or high temperatures are the norm, and specialty conveyor systems are needed to accommodate them. This post will focus on the latter: conveyors designed for high heat environments, and the solutions offered by mk North America.

Side Grip Conveyors and Transfer Systems from mk North America

side grip conveyor from mk North America

Some of the most challenging product and material handling applications are those for which easy access to the bottom of a product is required, such as with code dating, bottom inspection, and others.

In these cases side grip conveyors may be the ideal solution. Made with parallel belts that grip firmly by the sides, these systems move product along while allowing full access to the top and bottom, in addition to securing product during steep inclines.

The Benefits of mk North America Conveyor Systems for Metal Work

Metal Working Conveyors from mk North America

There’s a bit of popular wisdom that almost everyone has either heard or thought to themselves at some point: "Everything’s made of plastic these days."

But while the worldwide use and production of plastics has been rising steadily since the 1950s, metal’s not going anywhere just yet. One recent analysis even called industrial metals “the building blocks of an economy,” adding, “there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the industrial metals industry over the long term.”

Steady demand for metal means steady demand for metal working: die casting, stamping, cutting, assembly, handling, inspection, packaging, and all the other discrete processes that transform metal from raw ore to final product.

Synchronous Pallet System: Modul Con

Designed for applications and processes that require parts to travel in a continuous loop, while evenly spaced, to various workstations, the Modul Con conveyor from mk North America delivers reliable performance.

Synchronous Pallet System

Versatile Design

Modul Con conveyors are designed using ANSI hollow pin chain running its edge. Various shape pallet, attachments and/or fixtures are bolted to the chain at intervals specific to the application's needs. The attachments can be supplied by the customer or designed, built, and installed prior to shipping by mk. Further adding to the modularity of this system, the chain is available in ½-inch, ¾-inch or 1-inch pitch. Attachments are added at a spacing compatible with the chain pitch and boost the possibility of changing the attachment spacing in the future.  Attachments can range in size from 1-inch diameter up to 36-inch square.
